Arts Integration

“Schools, my friends, should not be boot camps for learning how to make a living, they should be places for learning how to make a life.”
– Elliot W Eisner

One of the infinite ways to make sense of our life is through drama.  A Stepping Stone Foundation is participating in a Helios Education Foundation funded program that Childsplay of Arizona is implementing in a few select preschool sites in the Phoenix area.  It is called EYEPlay.  This project trains current Early Childhood Education practitioners to incorporate drama techniques to help develop language and literacy acquisition with three-five year old students.  It draws from Childsplay’s professional development model Drama Frames tested over three years through the US Department of Education.

Visit our blog every week to see updates and anecdotes about this exciting learning opportunity.  Arts integration in American education is a necessity, not a luxury.  None of us is ever done learning–especially effective teachers!!
